《蘇東坡全集》為蘇軾作品總集的代表，內容包括「前集」、「後集」、「續集」、「奏議集」、「外制集」、「內制集」、「應詔集」等七種，所以又名「東坡七集」。而本書所收錄的東坡作品，除詩一千四百餘首外，另有賦、銘、頌、贊、論、策問、雜文、表、啟、書、記等，內容豐富。
蘇軾的詩以寫景詩和理趣詩，藝術價值最高，最為膾炙人口。蘇軾一生足跡所至，飽覽奇景偉觀，創作了大量寫景詩。此外，蘇軾善於從日常生活和普通自然小景中悟出新意妙理，發人所未發，寫成引人深思的理趣詩。敘事記遊的散文在蘇文中藝術價值最高，有不少廣為傳送的名作。
